Antiga Lota Pesqueira de Aveiro: um projeto de requalificação de um território "à beira-mar"

Abstract

This dissertation establishes a reading of the city of Aveiro that starts from the present day, which crosses its plans of development and that reads, in retrospect, it´s formation. The main objective of this reading is to contribute to the development of a proposal that focuses on the area of Antiga Lota Pesqueira, guarantee a better integration of this territory in the city, based on the guidelines and studies carried out over time. The study of the urban structure of Aveiro and its territory made it possible to develop a project for re-qualification of the Antiga Lota Pesqueira de Aveiro, creating new axes for the integration of this territory with the city and with the territory of Salgado de Aveiro, in a sustainable manner with the creation of ecological bridges over the salt pans, which allowed the creation of a connection to different points of the São Roque Canal and later to the steps of the Esteiro de Esgueira. The urban project brought with it the development of proposals for the rehabilitation of the Lota Pesqueira building and the Armazém de Redes building. The choice is justified by its social, economic and cultural importance. This set of build-ings marked the evolution of the place and the economy of the city in the twentieth century. Throughout the study process, the importance of heritage valorization, memory and landscape is addressed, while reading the existing territory, analyzing the characteristics of the region, its topogra-phy and landscape. The project presented in this dissertation establishes a relationship with the studies devel-oped in the area of industrial heritage, having chosen an object of study that allows to contribute to the reflection on the contemporary interventions in buildings and places of patrimonial value.
