Title: Design of potential therapeutic peptides and carriers to inhibit amyloid beta peptide aggregation
Issue Date: 2012
Abstract: The conformational changes and aggregation of amyloid beta peptide (A beta) are associated to Alzheimer's disease (AD). The aim of this work is to study the structure and fibril assembly of A beta in the presence of charged and nonionic amphiphiles, and beta-sheet breaker peptides/conjugates. It is expected that these molecules will inhibit A beta aggregation. Liposome systems will be developed as carriers for these peptide conjugates to cross the brain blood barrier (BBB).
