O estudo da prosódia do português arcaico a partir das cantigas religiosas e profanas remanescentes

Abstract

This work shows how the religious and profane cantigas are important to the study of the Archaic Portuguese Prosody. For a long time, the study of linguistic rhythm of this period seemed to be impossible, because there existed only written records - obviously, at that time, there was no sufficient technology for oral records. However, specifically for the Archaic Portuguese, Massini - Cagliari (1995, 1999, 2005) proposes a methodology in which, from the observation of metrical and poetical structure, we can reach prosodic features through scansion of the poetic syllables.
