dc.description.abstractThe concentration distribution in the wake of asoluble sphere immersed in a granular bed of inertshas been obtained numerically, for transport by bothadvection and diffusion/dispersion.Fluid flow in the granular bed around the sphere wasassumed to follow Darcys law and, at each point,dispersion of solute was considered in both the crossstreamand streamwise directions. The elliptic PDEequation, resulting from a differential materialbalance on the solute, has been solved numericallyover a wide range of values of the relevantparameters.
