Title: | Location of eyes in face images |
Issue Date: | 2002 |
Abstract: | This paper describes a method for detectionof irises in face images. The approach follows the workdescribed in [1] with new procedures introduced by theauthors in order to improve the detection results. Theglobal approach has the following main steps: imagecropping; image "cleaning"; selection of possible eyelocations; costs computation for each candidate predetectedeye; determination of the "best" pair of "eyes".The innovation introduced is mainly in the first twophases: the image cropping process and the imagecleaning. Completely new code was written in Matlab®,providing a user friendly graphical interface whichpaves the way for the making, testing and debugging ofthe algorithm. This work was developed within a Digital ImageProcessing course at the Electrical and ComputerEngineering degree in the Faculty of Engineering,University of Porto. |
