| dc.description.abstract | The application of the Boundary Element Method (BEM) to the evaluation of steady-state heat and vapour transfer in a ground floor in the vicinity of a peripheral concrete wall is described. The BEM is formulated to allow the use of multi-boundarie, making it possible to discretize all the components. The method and expressions presented are first implemented and validated by applying them to a single homogeneous wall. Then, the BEM isapllied to the model comprising the concrete wall and the floor for different hygrothermal conditions. The temperatureand vapour pressure distributions are compared and critical points, i.e. where condensation may occur, are identified for the different models. It is shown the importance of the two-dimensional analysis due to intensity varation of the heat and vapour flow. The consequence of the presence of a vapour retarder is also examined. | |
