Title: Installation of a Continuous Dynamic Monitoring system at Braga Stadium Suspended Roof: initial results from automated modal analysis
Issue Date: 2009
Abstract: The Braga stadium, constructed for the 2004 European Football Championship, has twograndstands beside the playing area covered by a suspended roof with a span of about 200m. Theinnovative characteristics of the roof structure have motivated extensive numerical studies duringdesign, dynamic tests after construction and the installation of monitoring systems. This paperdescribes in detail a recently installed Continuous Dynamic Monitoring System, the experimental andnumerical studies developed to prepare its installation and the results obtained after processing thedata collected during the first 50 days of operation, giving particular emphasis to the outputs ofalgorithms that perform the automatic identification of the roof modal parameters.
