Abstract

With the public participation in Switzerland as a study case, this dissertation is developed over the circumstances that led to the community's intervention on the architectonic/urbanistic presented proposals, and on the motifs behind the final decision. The structure is organized around two projects in Zurich, which raised great polemic on the social circle, leading to the need of the local population's intervention. The study is supported by bibliographic bases, both the ETH-Z Bibliothek and the Zurich municipal archives, and also reports from intervenes who watched the development of this two polemic cases. After the analysis of the study case, it becomes clear that the participation is too idealized being an easily manipulated instrument.
