| Abstract: | One of the major developments in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology has been the publishing of geographic information on the Web. GIS technology is a major medium for communication between people about subjects regarding land resources. We have developed a GIS integrating all information about all resources and services of the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. In this paper we present the functionality and services available, as well as the rationale for the major technical decisions taken. Finally, some conclusions and future work will be presented. |
| Description: | Um dos principais focos de desenvolvimento dos Sistemas de Informação Geográfica tem consistido no melhoramento das aplicações para disponibilizar informação na Internet. Os sistemas de informação geográfica constituem um meio privilegiado de divulgação e de comunicação entre as instituições e as pessoas. Neste projecto foi desenvolvido um Sistema de Informação Geográfica contendo toda a informação dos recursos e serviços da Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. Ao longo deste artigo serão descritas as funcionalidades e serviços disponibilizados. Em seguida justificam-se as principais opções técnicas tomadas. Finalmente, apresentam-se algumas conclusões e desenvolvimentos futuros deste projecto. |
