| Abstract: | Building solutions were traditionally validated by experience. However, industrialization and the absence of proper design have led to the appearance of numerous pathologies, a problem which is compounded by a lack of systematic information. This leads to the repetition of the same mistakes over and over again. To help remedy this situation, the Building Pathology Study Group (PATORREB) has developed an online catalogue of pathologies, a scientific and educational tool designed to systematically organize information on building pathology. It consists of a set of records, each containing four fields: description of the pathology; assessment and measuring techniques; causes, and possible repair solutions. This paper discusses building pathologies, their causes and economic significance, and describes the contents of the website at www.patorreb.com KEYWORDS: PATORREB, pathology, building, catalogue, ceramic tiles |
