| dc.description.abstract | The indoor environmental quality of two Portuguese schools was evaluated. In each school two classrooms were monitored: air temperature and carbon dioxide concentration were measured for a week period; the ventilation rates were determined using the tracer gas method - decay technique. The results were analysed and a simulation of the carbon dioxide concentration in one classroom was carried. The results showed that Portuguese schools need refurbishment, their environmental quality is not adequate although the new standard should be discussed. KEYWORDS: School buildings, indoor environmental quality, temperature, CO2 concentration, ventilation | |
