| Abstract: | This research is dedicated to the study of prefabrication in architecture, addressing the various principles of this constructive practice. Therefore, we address the concepts of modularity, systems and components, framing the basic principles of structural prefabricated building systems. It also reflects on the possibilities that technological progress brings to prefabrication, particularly the introduction of new materials and custom manufacturing processes. The research is consolidated through a study of singlefamily housing project, which aims to combine the principles of industrialized construction to the portuguese cultural context, assuming that is possible, and necessary, the incorporation of social and cultural elements in prefabricated architecture. |
| Description: | Esta dissertação foca a investigação da prefabricação em arquitetura, abordando vários princípios desta prática construtiva. Percorrem-se assim os conceitos de modularidade, de sistemas e componentes, enquadrado-se princípios básicos de sistemas construtivos estruturais prefabricados. Reflete-se ainda sobre possibilidades que o progresso tecnológico traz à prefabricação, nomeadamente no que concerne à introdução de novos materiais e à costumização dos processos produtivos. A matéria estudada expressa-se num estudo de projeto de habitação unifamiliar, que pretende aliar os princípios da construção industrializada ao contexto cultural português, partindo do pressuposto que é possível, e necessária, a incorporação de elementos sociais e culturais na arquitetura prefabricada. |
