Title: | Influence of PEG's Molecular Weight on Different Polymer/Salt ATPS Phase Diagrams |
Issue Date: | 2016 |
Abstract: | Binodal data for systems composed by polyethylene glycol (4000, 6000 or 8000) and citrate salts (sodium, potassium) wasobtained using the cloud point method, at 298.15 K. Merchuk equation was applied for the modeling of binodal curves.Tie-lines for systems of PEG 4000 - citrate (sodium, potassium) and PEG 6000 - citrate (sodium, potassium) weredetermined by electrical conductivity and lyophilization, and correlated using Othmer-Tobias and Bancroft equations, toverify the reliability of the measured tie-lines. Data was compared with previous studies reported in the literature, givingan indication of which system is more efficient in terms of separation, taking into account possible combinations of salt'scations and PEGs of different molecular weight chosen for ATPS. |
