| Abstract: | The project's process has always been associated with the use of the draw with two strands, one connected to the creative thinking process and another, more rigid, linked to standards of representation. The process of representation evolved with the introduction of a new digital media, CAD, in the early 80s. However, it was remained the same methodology supported by the drawing. On the other hand, a representation by CAD remains limited, since his twodimensional and vectorial character. This fragmented system of representation introduces several problems related with the management of information. Nowadays, the projects become increasingly complex and must respond to new demands. The role of the architect and the constitution of his team work has changed since new specialties were included in the project. It's important to realize how to manage all project information and communication between the various professionals involved. BIM is a concept and a methodology that offer a new way of conceiving the project, through a smart model. Not just a tool, but essentially a collaborative platform where it manages a work process. It is through a virtual model that is managed relationships and dialogue between the project's disciplines. Therefore, BIM is constituted as a new medium. The BIM methodology has already been implemented in several international countries, by defining standards and imposing them on public works. In Portugal, although there are already several initiatives in this regard, has not yet become a priority within government. As regards the teaching of Architecture have not yet been defined standards for the integration of BIM in the curricula, as has happened already in the labor market. This integration has been slow and experimental, however, there are different ways of applying the collaborative aspect of BIM in teaching. In Portugal begin to exist some examples, for instance the recent curricular unit of "Projeto BIM" at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto. However, it's essential to integrate BIM in the practices course subjects and reconcile it with the methodological tradition of the draw, so characteristic in the "Escola do Porto". |
| Description: | O processo de projecto esteve desde sempre associado à utilização do desenho com duas vertentes, uma criativa ligada ao processo de pensamento e uma outra, mais rígida, ligada às normas de representação. O processo de representação evoluiu com a introdução de um novo suporte digital, o CAD, no início dos anos 80. Contudo, manteve-se a mesma base metodológica apoiada no desenho. No entanto, uma representação através de CAD continua a ser limitada, dado o seu carácter vectorial e bidimensional. Este sistema de representação fragmentado apresenta vários problemas relacionados com a gestão da informação. Na realidade actual, os projectos tornam-se cada vez mais complexos e devem responder a novas exigências. O papel do arquitecto e a constituição da sua equipa de trabalho alterou-se, uma vez que foram incluídas novas especialidades no projecto. É importante perceber como se deve gerir toda a informação do projecto e a comunicação entre os vários profissionais envolvidos. O BIM consiste num conceito e numa metodologia que propõe uma nova forma de conceber o projecto, através de um modelo inteligente. Não constitui apenas uma ferramenta, mas essencialmente uma plataforma colaborativa onde se gere um processo de trabalho. É através de um modelo virtual que são geridas as relações e o diálogo entre as disciplinas de projecto. O Bim constitui-se assim, como um novo meio de comunicação. A metodologia BIM foi já implementada em vários países internacionais, através da definição de normas e a sua imposição nas obras públicas. Em Portugal, apesar de já existirem várias iniciativas nesse sentido, ainda não se tornou uma prioridade a nível governamental. No que diz respeito ao ensino da Arquitectura ainda não foram definidas normas para a integração do BIM nos currículos, como aconteceu já no mercado de trabalho. Esta integração tem sido lenta e experimental, no entanto, existem diferentes possibilidades de aplicar a vertente colaborativa do BIM no ensino. Em Portugal começam a existir alguns exemplos, caso da recente unidade curricular de "Projecto BIM" da Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto. Contudo, é essencial integrar o BIM nas disciplinas práticas do curso e conciliá-lo com a tradição metodológica do desenho, tão característico na "Escola do Porto". |
