Entre contradições; memória e esquecimento na reabilitação

Abstract

A dissertation, a project, two-stroke, two programs, two construction systems, two bodies in one. The structured dissertation in a chain of methodological principles, contradictory and paradoxical ideas, which are among a theoretical / practical project. The proposed architectural design presented is reflected at the junction of different times, reflecting own languages each time different, but healthy. Giving up so the integration of different elements in the same architectural narrative revealing the desire to rehabilitate a sleeping architecture, worn and great nostalgic value, Quinta dos Casais. It will explore the typology of the main house of the Quinta dos Casais as a way to solidify the experience feature to its internal space. The rehabilitation project will not be submissive to the existing or dominant, in order to create a dialogue between past and present. Thus, the intention is to protect and restore the structural memory and vitality of the farm, adpting the family house of character of the main house for a vacation/ getaway house program. So, get up will an understanding of programmatic conservation concept to integrate and involve an identify already established, while preserving the pre-existing traditional character. This project was involved in the design with place system by exploiting this way the present existential space and the type of dwelling that this enables, as well as in the narrative to build in the built, emphasizing reading and interpretation of spatial system established the pre-existence. The main objective of this work is the theoretical and practical reflection on the dichotomy and contradiction that arises between past and present, between memory and forget fulness, whose project seeks to reveal an intervention strategy that addresses the interaction between pre-existence and the program live. However, it also seeks to respond to comfort needs and ways of living contemporaries. In this rehabilitation project material and sensory, the contemporary architect seeks to confront individually with the memory of the place. Finally, the dissertation aims to investigate the complexities and contradictions when the architect faces the boundaries between memory and forgetting.
