Title: Frouwe, wiltu toufen dich, / Du maht ouch noch erwerben mich (Pz: 56:25 F.) : notes on Gahmuret's desertion of Belakane
Publisher: Porto : Universidade do Porto. Faculdade de Letras
Issue Date: 1997
Abstract: This brief article discusses the motives which lie behind Gahmuret's desertion of his heathen bride Belakane in Wolfram's Parzival: the author concludes that the reason which Gahmuret gives for the desertion (i.e. the religious difference which separates the couple) is not the knight-errant's real motive, but it is the one which allows Wolfram to explain to his audience Gahmuret's subsequent marriage to Herzeloyde.
