Abstract

In this article, which discusses a symbolical nature of trees, the author attempts to analyse the extent to which what is merely physiological, organic for man in modern societies is possible to become spiritual and mythical to the homo religiosus. An abyss would seem to separate these two modalities of experience, the first profane, the second sacred. It is of this that historians of religion, ethnologists, folklorists, few philosophers and traditional tales, legends and myths speak.
