In this article the author intends to consider briefly the poetic word in 18th century France. The stereotype «poetic aridity» is discredited for a century which was rich in the production of almost all the areas of poetic language. Above all it is important to emphasize the experiments undertaken by the Grammarians in their attempts to establish «la langue des Rois». Together with the Poets they opened the way to all poetry of modernity.pt_PT
