Arquitectura contemporânea em Taipa, uma relação simbiótica entre Portugal e Alemanha

Abstract

My inspiration was born after the experience as an exchange student, alongside my professional involvement within the Haas Cook Zemmrich atelier, both in Stuttgart, Germany. A deep reflection, a steep process of learning and hard work where the main focus points that allowed this exercise to be written. The main purpose of this thesis is the investigation and analysis of the construction of mud-houses, according to the needs of contemporary architecture. It was based on three selected case studies, one in Germany and the other two in Portugal based on their individual resources and plan area. The construction work of each one was based on the technique of mud-houses and adapted to the evolution of the building within modern architecture. An in depth study of the advantages and limitations of this kind of architecture was carried in order to find its placement in the contemporary world, helping the modern man, without compromising the natural properties allied to this material. In between Portugal and Germany and their relationship of positive complicity, a deep investigation was carried to help explain the main point of this thesis. Campus Alnatura, in Darmstadt, a Casa da Vinha in Setubal and the Adega do Esporão in Évora, where the three chosen case studies.
