| Abstract: | Revisiting the concept of "quietism" and its application within the spiritual context proposed by Miguel de Molinos, the author emphasises its effective "corruption" by the evidence of contemporaneous moral decadence. Concurrently, this text analysis how the condemnation of these heresies encouraged, in Portugal as well, all sorts of attacks (both by the church and the state) against the generalisation of mysticism and devoutness to laymen. |
