| Abstract: | An "ilha" in Porto. A structure that once had life in abundance. Now, with the time and forgetfulness, emerges as an opportunity for transformation to create conditions for new uses and new ways of living. This dissertation focuses on the rehabilitation project on an "ilha" in Rua João de Deus, Porto, and the entire process and experiences that the project calls. A journey that goes from the site of the object in History and in the City, its morphological and constructive analysis, to the definition of an intervention strategy and its project. A project that navigates between the old and the new, between memory and transformation. The choice of the "ilha" as an object of study and design for this dissertation, emerges, first, to the personal interest in the phenomenon of "ilhas" of Porto. Then, emerges from the opportunity of study and project, proposed by the current owners, hoping that does not end here and that goes beyond this dissertation. |
| Description: | Uma ilha no Porto. Uma estrutura que outrora foi palco de vida em abundância. Agora, entregue ao tempo e ao esquecimento, surge como uma oportunidade de transformação de modo a criar condições para novos usos e novos modos de habitar. A presente dissertação centra-se no projecto de reabilitação de uma ilha na Rua João de Deus, Porto, e de todo o processo e experiências que ele, o projecto, convoca. Uma viagem que vai desde a procura do lugar do objecto na História e na Cidade, à sua análise morfológica e construtiva, até à definição de uma estratégia de intervenção e ao seu desenho. Um desenho que navega entre o antigo e o novo, entre a memória e a transformação. A escolha da ilha em questão como objecto de estudo e de projecto para a presente dissertação, prende-se, em primeiro lugar, com o interesse pessoal pelo fenómeno das ilhas do Porto. Depois, surge pela oportunidade de estudo e projecto, proposto pelos actuais proprietários, ansiando-se que não termine por aqui e que vá para além desta dissertação. |
