| Abstract: | This dissertation has as primordial purpose the reflection about the interventions made under the patronage of the Olivetti company on a specific moment of the italian story of architecture through the analysis of three case studies: The Olivetti factory in Pozzuoli (1951- 1955) with project by the engineer Luigi Cosenza, the Pharmaceutical Laboratory and Research Institute "Marxer" in Loranzè (1960-1964) designed by the architect Alberto Galardi and the Olivetti Complex of Scarmagno (1967-1988) by architect Eduardo Vittoria. All the considerations made of the selected case studies and the city of Ivrea will be preceded by an investigation of the theoretical principles and pratical foundations that determined and served as ideological base for the political, social and architectonic action started by Adriano Olivetti. The pertinence of the three buildings selected relates to the different interpretation of each of individual author about what is a building for the industry. The three objects will be analysed through four parameters where its project options will be clarified, such as adjustment to site, formal features or programatic distribution, always estabilishing some possible conections that might have guided or influenced the final result. The Olivetti buildings are examples of an attempt to influence the dynamics of the city thus to elevate the living of the man through the development and spread of industrial architecture inspired in american models of production and/or european formal patterns. |
| Description: | Esta dissertação tem como propósito a reflexão sobre as intervenções realizadas no domínio da empresa Olivetti, num momento muito particular da história da arquitetura italiana, através da análise de três casos de estudo: A fábrica Olivetti em Pozzuoli (1951-1955) com projeto do engenheiro Luigi Cosenza, o Laboratório farmacêutico e Instituto de Pesquisa "Marxer" em Loranzè (1960-1964) projetado pelo arquiteto Alberto Galardi e o Complexo Olivetti de Scarmagno (1967-1988) pelo arquiteto Eduardo Vittoria. As considerações feitas sobre estes casos de estudo e a cidade de Ivrea serão precedidas por uma investigação em torno dos princípios teóricos e fundamentos práticos que determinaram e serviram de base ideológica para a atuação política, social e arquitetónica iniciada por Adriano Olivetti. A pertinência dos três edifícios selecionados relaciona-se com a interpretação distinta de cada um dos seus autores do que é um edifício para a indústria. Os três objetos serão analisados segundo quatro parâmetros onde serão esclarecidas opções de projeto, tais como adaptação ao lugar, características formais ou distribuição programática, estabelecendo sempre um paralelo com o que era feito contemporaneamente e encontrando algumas possíveis correspondências que poderão ter orientado ou influenciado o resultado final. Os edifícios da Olivetti são exemplos de uma tentativa de influenciar a dinâmica da cidade para, desta forma, elevar a vivência do homem através do desenvolvimento e da proliferação da arquitetura industrial inspirada em modelos americanos de produção e/ou matrizes formais europeias. |
