The Convent of Madre de Deus de Monchique, founded during the first half of the XVIth century by Pedro da Cunha Coutinho and his wife D. Beatriz de Vilhena, has not yet been studied as its historie and artistic importance deserved. Built from the noble houses the Coutinhos had in Monchique, with a church designed by the architect Diogo de Castilho, the Convent of Madre de Deus had several changes along the following centuries, and became one of the most remarka-ble buildings of Oporto. With this work we are giving notice of the change made in main-chancel in 1699/1700 and an important work in the convent wall.pt_PT
