Abstract: This dissertation focuses on the drawing view as an essential and indispensable tool for any process of architecture, without invalidating others that exist and that tend to increase with the technological advancement. I consider that it exists a devaluation of the drawing - the most primary language that we have -, which becomes, in my point of view, one of the causes for the autistic way that architecture seems to be taking, indifferent to the context and circumstance, and looking for the show. Thus, the drawing is something that I believe in, that can lead us to a return to basics and to the elemental nature of the architecture. It is an excellent process that is available to all the people. Many are the authors who defend this need of the intrinsic drawing to architecture, even if they have never experienced these theories in practice, in a systematic and objective way. The importance of experimenting these theories is that they are, at the same time, the motivations of this work, carried out an investigation that has as its starting point the personal drawings of architectural conception of a specific author, who is seen as a case study. The selection of this author becomes from a personal experience - an internship, carried out with the architect Camilo Rebelo -, where it began to emerge these and other concerns within the architecture. Analysed personal drawings are part of a set of eighteen books, which were selected either by the architect either by me, and are consequently distributed chronologically in four phases, defined according to the biographical references - since he was a student until his independent activity as an architect. The analysis of every sketch is made according to quantitative and qualitative patterns, in a systematized, logical and careful way. For the first criteria it means a primary analysis on the characteristics of the sketches, and for the second it means an analysis of the content and meaning, in order to establish a cohesive relationship between both. It can be concluded that the drawing is a powerful mean of gauging the essential traits of an author, not only in the creative part as well as in your personality, once it makes the connection between the unconscious and the paper. Like this, is verifyed in the analysis of the practise of an architect drawing the speculative theories seen about drawing as an personal process.
