Escavações de Monte Mozinho (1974-1998): projecto territorial e lugar de encontro de Callaecia

Abstract

We argue the innovating features of the Monte Mozinho (Penafiel) archaeological project, both the ones resulting from the methodology used in and the outcomes of the site excavation, which began soon after the 1974 Portuguese Revolution, as well as the ones resulting from the excavations subsequent expansion throughout the entire municipality physical area and their vast diachronic inclusiveness. Furthermore, the aforesaid project had a truly significant influence on the strengthening of the relations between the North of Portugal and Galiza researchers, on the formation of joint teams that worked together in several archaeological sites in the Northeast region and on the training of new archaeologists.
