| Abstract: | The house as a "machine for living", proposed by Le Corbusier, is a concept that still remains rather unknown and uncertain. For this architect, it is a very clear, direct and realistic vision of his interpretation of the House of Man. The present dissertation aims at building on the concept of a machine as a house in Le Corbusier's thought and architecture, with the aim of questioning the supposed inhuman character and coldness attributed to him for being side by side with the industry and technique to respond to man's needs and life experiences. |
| Description: | A casa como máquina de habitar, proposta por Le Corbusier, é um conceito que permanece ainda numa esfera de incógnitas e incertezas. Para este arquiteto é uma visão bastante clara, direta e realista da sua interpretação da Casa do Homem. A presente dissertação pretende desenvolver o conceito de máquina como casa na arquitetura e pensamento de Le Corbusier, no intuito de interrogar o suposto carácter desumano e a frieza que lhe foi atribuída por estar lado a lado com a indústria e com a técnica na resposta às necessidades e vivências do homem. |
