dc.description.abstractThe effect of the solids on the mass transfercharacteristics was studied experimentally in a bubblecolumn for different multiphase systems. Volumetricliquid side mass transfer coefficient, kLa, specificinterfacial area, a, and liquid side mass transfercoefficient, kL, were determined under different solidconcentrations, gas flow rates and solid sizes. Bubblecharacteristics were obtained using an image analysistechnique. It was found that the gas-liquid mass transferprocess is influenced by the solid type, loading and size.
