Viver "da arte" ou... "no meio artístico"? : o caso de António José Vieira Júnior (Porto, séc. XVIII-XIX)

Abstract

In this case study we aim to document the long persistence of traditional vectors in art training and production. With biographical and micro-historical methodologies, we reconstruct the closing in of the art milieu and the significant influence of family-based ties, both in economic terms and in those of the equally important image management, as witnessed in Porto between the end of the 18th century and 1836, the year of the transformation brought on by the creation of the local Academy of Fine Arts.
