Title: Portugal e o Mediterrâneo, entre Castela e Marrocos : a formação da fronteira marítima nos séculos XIV-XV e a noção de espaço político descontínuo
Issue Date: 2014-02-07
Abstract: Through the dialectic of the maritime areas with relevance in medieval Portuguese history (the Atlantic and the Mediterranean), the paper stresses its importance in the relations with Castile and Morocco. It also examines the four dimensions of the maritime frontier: affirmation of naval power, border of the geography of Christendom, diplomatic articulation with Castile, and rear. It ends with a reflection about the genesis of the concept of «discontinued political space».
