Title: Study of loudspeaker electromechanical nonlinearities and their compensation

Abstract: A typica l loudspeaker has somenonlinearities that interfere with its behaviorcausing the well-known distortions. In thispaper, we study two of the majorelectromechanical nonlinearities, the motorforce factor and the suspension compliance.First we found a model for nonlinearloudspeaker simulation. The results werecompared with experimental observation,validating the model. Two types ofcompensation were introduced, one openloop and one closed loop approaches,showing that it is possible to improveloudspeaker performance considerably.This paper describes a preliminary study ofthis type of compensation, aiming tosubsequent implementation using a digitalsignal processor (DSP).
