dc.description.abstractThe central objective of this article is the problem of social construction of vocational competences. It discusses the main results from a research project focused on two case studies carried out in multinational metal-mechanic companies located in Portugal. Modalities for managing competences are studied based on the logic for producing knowledges and mobilizing competences, taking into account both the viewpoint of managers and wage workers. This reflection concludes with a discussion on the main business determinants for the social construction of vocational competences.pt_PT
