Os inquéritos sobre o sal português nos séculos XVIII a XX

Abstract

From the late 18th century to the middle of the 20th, several enquiries were produced on the Portuguese salt (1790, 1869, 1936, 1954-60). The aim of this paper is to measure the historical context, as well as the enquiry itself, distinguishing the perspectives of the gridlines, established by their authors. Besides this, we intend to analyze the potentials and the limitations of these sources, evaluating their representativity in order to elaborate quantitative and qualitative database. The databases upon which one would be able to discuss a short and a long term salt cartography, the technical aspects (biological and chemical) and socio-economic traces (work systems and productivity).
