| Abstract: | Considering Early Modern Age, this paper intends, on one hand, to notice salt's importance as a product that guaranteed easy tax/fiscal earnings not only to Custom-houses but also to city council's coffers. On the other hand, salt was a product constantly mentioned in city charters and, therefore, it could be a source of wealth for landlords. |
