| Abstract: | The aim of this work is to synthesize the present knowledge on the main occurrences of kaolin deposits in Portuguese mainland, giving special emphasis to those located near the Atlantic shoreline of NW Portugal and Galicia, along the so-called Porto–Albergaria-a-Velha metamorphic belt (Iberian Massif, NW Portugal). A geodynamic insight of the geotectonical and morphostructural control of the several outcropping kaolin deposits is presented in order to establish possible exploration guides. |
