A Companhia Geral da Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro no confronto absolutismo/liberalismo : a destruição dos armazéns de Gaia em 1833

Abstract

With the purpose of studying Royal Oporto Wine Company during the confrontation between absolutism and liberalism, this paper focus on an event of great relevance – the fire at the Company’s warehouses in Gaia, in 16 of August of 1833, under the orders of the absolutist Government of D. Miguel. With that in mind, we selected three texts that present both original and complementary versions of the events in question, written by Luz Soriano, António Ferrão and Rocha Martins.
