Abstract

Although the History of Alto Douro has a vast bibliographical production, the truth is that its history remains to have a lot of gaps, as the main archive for its study, the Archive of General Company of Agriculture of the Alto Douro vineyards (Real Companhia Velha) has not been available to the investigators. It is only now that a team by us coordinated is carrying out its inventorying and study. In this article, we giv e notice of the extension and of the importance of this documental fund, indispensable for the history of the vineyard and of the wine, from Alto Douro and from the North of Portugal.
