As potencialidades dos fundos do Arquivo Histórico Municipal do Porto para a história do vinho

Abstract

The Municipal Historical Archive of Oporto (the Casa do Infante) contains an extremely valuable collection of documents concerning the social and economic aspects of the Port Wine trade. Many of them date beyond the Modern Age, although the most significant documents re lating to the different aspec ts of the History of Port Wine Agro-Industry are from that particular period. In this paper the author analyses the books included in Subsídio Militar; the books included in Terças dos Vinhos, the books included in Fianças dos Medidores e Vinhateiros da Cidade, the book entitled Contribuição Militar (1757), the book entitled Cutelos dos Mercadores de Vinhos, and particularly the substantial collection of books included in Imposição dos Vinhos.
