The winegrower Alto Douro, between 1771-1775 knew a terrible investigation, the most extensive and deep ever carried out to that territory. From that inquiry it remained a vast set of documents that allow us to e valuate its dimension and to know the nature of the transgressions then performed. This study gives notice of the main aspects from that dramatic process, starting from an exceptional source existing in the Archive of Real Companhia Velha, and that we publish here due to its special importance.pt_PT
