Dinâmicas sociais e redes patrimoniais em torno dos Hospitalários e dos Templários em Portugal (séculos XII-XIV)

Abstract

The social dynamics and their articulation with the heritage networks developed around the Orders of the Hospital and the Temple in Portugal in the 12th to 14th centuries reflect the period in which both coexisted in Portuguese territory and the paradigm shift in the treatment of religious-military orders and the changes in the aristocracy that often sought them out. The problematisation of this issue depends on identifying who entered these institutions, bearing in mind the diversity of reasons that mobilised people for these life projects and, on the other hand, on understanding how these human resources were distributed among the various patrimonial nuclei that these orders accumulated. Brothers, donatos, confratres and benefactors contributed to social adherence to the project of these institutions. All these indicators point to the complexity of social interconnections and the capacity for social mobilisation that the orders from Jerusalem had in the 12th to 14th centuries.
