| Title: | O Bloqueio Direto no Basquetebo: Um estudo na liga feminina portuguesa |

| Abstract: | This dissertation analyzed the influence of variables related to time, space, player, task, and context in the success of ball screens in women's basketball. For this study, a sample of 1131 ball screens were collected from 23 close games of the 2018/2019 Women's Portuguese Basketball League. For game analysis, the effectiveness of the ball screen was used as dependent variable, whereas other ten were used as independent variables (quarter half, time possession remaining, quarter, zone, orientation, pair of execution, finishing action, defensive strategy, screen type and offensive system). For data analysis, were used the Pearson's Chi-square test and the Classification Tree analysis. The main results showed that quarter half, time possession remaining, finishing action, defensive strategy, and offensive system are the best predictors of the success in ball screens. We expect that the results of this study will be useful for coaches in planning the tactical strategies of women's basketball teams. |
| Description: | Na presente dissertação analisou-se a influência de variáveis relacionadas com o tempo, espaço, jogador, tarefa e contexto no sucesso do bloqueio direto no basquetebol feminino. Para este estudo foi utilizada uma amostra de 1131 bloqueios diretos recolhidos em 23 jogos equilibrados da época 2018/2019 da Liga Feminina de Basquetebol Portuguesa. Na análise dos jogos definiu-se a eficácia do bloqueio direto como variável dependente, e outras dez como variáveis independentes (tempo restante do quarto, tempo restante de posse de bola, quarto, zona, orientação, par de execução, ação de finalização, estratégia defensiva, tipo de bloqueio e sistema ofensivo). Para a análise dos dados recorremos ao teste Pearson's Chi-square e à Árvore de Decisão. Os principais resultados mostram que o tempo restante do quarto, tempo restante de posse de bola, ação de finalização, estratégia defensiva e sistema ofensivo são os melhores preditores do sucesso do bloqueio direto. Espera-se que a informação resultante deste trabalho possa ser útil aos treinadores na planificação das estratégias táticas das equipas de basquetebol feminino. |
