Desafios e conquistas de um futuro Professor de Educação Física

Abstract

This professional internship was the result of two years of work developed by the preservice teacher, who had their first contact with the labor market whilst still pursuing their academic studies. Therefore, by being embedded in the Master Program from the Faculty of Sport of the University of Porto , it allowed the students to apply the theoretical knowledge they had acquire in the previous year. It also aided the implementation of strategies they have been previously taught, in real-life situations. Thus, this report includes experiences and considerations of real situations that happened throughout the present internship. It also reflects on personal growth as well as on the overcoming of multiple issues related to this assignment. Consequently, this report is organized in six main chapters, beginning by introducing the goals of this internship and simultaneously of this report. This first chapter is followed by some "personal context", diving into the intern student's main ideas and academic background leading to this point. By contrast, the following chapter focus on "institutional background", where it is explained the role of the school in the students' academic course, while also exploring the conditions of the cooperating school. The fourth part of this report is the longest, covering three different areas of the preservice teacher's participation in the present internship. It is also important to highlight the Qualitative Study developed based on semi-structured interviews. The goal with these interviews was to understand how students perceived their Physical Education classes, with focus on the basketball modality. Last but not least, this report finishes off with a series of considerations and future lines of inquiry, reflecting on Physical education as a whole. It also shines a light on the main skills acquired throughout this internship.
