Das teorias às práticas: a preparação de obra como interface entre o projecto e a execução

Abstract

Between the line of the drawing and the built matter lies an often-overlooked gap: construction preparation. Far from being merely a technical or administrative procedure, this discreet territory concentrates silent decisions that largely shape the destiny of architecture. It is here that intentions and constraints, ideas and resistances, drawings and materials intersect. The research explores this intermediate space through fifteen themes, each addressing different facets of construction preparation: the critical reading of the execution project, the inevitability of incompatibilities, the mediating role of drawing, the management of time and quality, contractual adjustments, the importance of samples and tests, and the value of photographic records. Taken together, these moments reveal that construction preparation is not a mere prelude, but an integral part of the architectural process. At the center of the reflection is the figure of the architect as construction preparer, understood not only as a technician but as a mediator: someone who interprets, communicates, decides, and redraws, ensuring that the project maintains its coherence in the face of the variables of the building site. His or her action combines rigor and sensitivity, planning and improvisation, always on the threshold between theory and practice. Rather than proposing definitive answers, this work seeks to shed light on a field that is rarely discussed yet decisive for the quality of built architecture. Construction preparation thus emerges as an autonomous space of practice and reflection, where the architect's gesture finds continuity and proof in the reality of construction.
