| Abstract: | Despite being one of the best-known songs in Galician-Portuguese troubadour poetry and perhaps one of the most analysed by critics, the biblical resonances in Meendinho's composition have seldom been explored, and studies have focused mainly on the influence of the psalms on the composition. In this work, we re-examine the titular figure of the hermitage where the action takes place (St. Simon), questioning both the polysemic potential of this oracle and its functions in the poem. |
| Description: | Apesar de ser um dos cantares mais conhecidos da poesia trovadoresca, e talvez dos mais analisados pela crítica, as ressonâncias bíblicas na composição de Meendinho não foram exploradas com frequência, e normalmente centraram-se na influência dos salmos sobre a composição. Neste trabalho, reapreciamos a figura titular da ermida onde se desenrola a ação (S. Simão), questionando quer o potencial polissémico deste orago, quer as suas funcionalidades no poema. |
