Abstract

This dissertation investigates the relationship between the body, the senses and architectural space, questioning the predominance of vision in the discipline. Based on a theoretical reflection that takes synaesthesia as a stylistic device, understood here as a conceptual resource for thinking about the complementarity of the senses, a design exercise is developed: the design of a family home for a client born blind. In this exercise, accessibility is understood not only as a normative response, but as an opportunity to expand the sensitive dimension of architecture, valuing memory and the diversity of sensory perceptions beyond vision. The result is a synthesis between theory and practice, where body, memory and perception assert themselves as the foundations of a more inclusive architecture that is attentive to the plurality of human experience.
