Objetos materiais ou documentos que veiculam crenças?

Abstract

A reflection, from the perspective of Information Science, on the duality between the physical value of objects and, in this context, the document and its symbolic function in the transmission of beliefs, vide information; analysing this material object in the info-communication phenomenon. Documents, considered as supports and therefore material objects can be more than just tangible items; they often carry cultural, religious or ideological meanings, since they contain information resulting from the human mind. Documents play a fundamental role in the relationship between culture and belief, since they provide a meaning, a record that immortalizes the transmission of values, traditions and practices over time. The document, materializing the structured set of codified rational and emotional representations modelled socially (mental), capable of being recorded in any medium and shared (communicated) synchronously and a-synchronously, uni- and multi-directionally (the object, the medium), it becomes an essential link between past, present and future, strengthening identities and promoting societal evolution. It constitutes an element of study within the scope of Information Science, but placing it in its rightful mediating position: Information - Media-Document-Media - Information.
