Entre desafios e conquistas: Um percurso de crescimento profissional como professor de Educação Física

Abstract

This Professional School Placement Report marks the conclusion of the Professional School Placement undertaken as part of the 2nd Cycle of Studies in Physical Education Teaching in Basic and Secondary Education, at the Faculty of Sports, University of Porto. The Professional School Placement took place in a school located in the municipality of Guimarães and was crucial to my development as a preservice teacher. Throughout this formative journey, I had the opportunity to apply and integrate the knowledge acquired during my academic training, while also developing new skills and essential pedagogical competencies. This Professional School Placement brings together all the experiences I lived during my Supervised Teaching Practice, where I played an active role in promoting learning, placing the student at the centre of the educational process. With the aim of promoting inclusive and high-quality teaching, I constantly readjusted my practice and sought appropriate solutions to the challenges encountered and to students' needs, using pedagogical models and digital tools that contributed to both my development and that of my students. Ongoing reflection played a central role in my growth, guiding my decisions and fostering more intentional teaching. The work carried out with the Internship Group, the Cooperating Professor, and the Supervising Professor was also fundamental, offering valuable moments of sharing and professional development. Participation in non-teaching activities deepened my understanding of the teacher's educational mission within the school community. My research study emerged from the observation of unequal participation during Basketball and Futsal classes, focusing on the identification and implementation of pedagogical strategies that promote inclusive and equitable teaching. This contributed to a more reflective professional development process. This Professional School Placement Report reflects the challenges faced, the strategies implemented, the achievements accomplished, the experiences lived, and the commitment to a student-centred and inclusive teaching practice.
