Para uma geo-história do punk: Um percurso pela cidade, com as suas cartografias afetivas, as suas cenas e as suas vivências = For a Geo-History of Punk: A Journey Through the City, with Its Affective Cartographies, Scenes, and Experiences

Abstract

This article argues that participation in music scenes obeys the logic of appropriation, interaction, and interpretation of urban, rural, and peri-urban spaces. It focuses on the punk movement in Portugal, specifically in Lisbon and its metropolitan area. Based on a predominantly qualitative methodology, this article is based on the spatialisation of three biographies: Rui Rocker, João Ribas, and Zé Pedro, three emblematic punk figures in Portugal. Through these paths, we will analyse the movements, meanings, modes of enjoyment, appropriation, and (re)signification of urban space by these actors, revealing the importance of their sentimental cartographies in the constitution of a complex, reticular, diverse, and effective punk scene that has been transmuted and amplified to the present day.
