| Title: | O Marceneiro: entre o trabalho artesanal e o trabalho operacional |

| Abstract: | The Sennet's (2009b) and Mill's (1969) model of craftsmanship applied to the manual and skilled occupations was used as theoretical grounding for the study of the cabinetmakers of the Paredes furniture industry. Through an exploratory and qualitative research, developed with the application of interviews and participant observation, we identified, among other features, the coexistence of craft skills with industrial techniques. The complexity of the occupation highlights the relevance of the application of the craftsmanship model on industrial contexts to identify tensions, resistances and new labour and organizational dynamics. |
| Description: | O modelo de trabalho artesanal de Sennett (2009b) e Mills (1969) aplicado às ocupações manuais e qualificadas serviu de fundamentação teórica para o estudo do trabalho dos marceneiros da indústria do mobiliário em Paredes. A partir de uma pesquisa exploratória e qualitativa, desenvolvida com a realização de entrevistas e observação participante, identificamos, entre outras características, a coexistência de competências artesanais e técnicas industriais. A complexidade da ocupação destaca a relevância da aplicação do modelo artesanal à análise contextos industriais para identificar tensões, resistências e novas dinâmicas laborais e organizacionais. |
