As linhas da cultura: uma abordagem teórico-etnográfica do operariado agrícola alentejano durante o Estado Novo português

Abstract

This article uses a sociological perspective with the aim of reconstructing, analytically and empirically, a very particular object of study. The article responds to this challenge based on an ethnographic approach to a relatively unknown object of study: rural salaried workers in Alentejo. Adding qualitative data based on content analysis of poems and popular songs from the region and testimonies from former agricultural workers, the article seeks to reconstruct a trajectory of historical mobilizations in Alentejo during the Portuguese Estado Novo (1926-1974). The central purpose was to account for the interaction between the cultural sphere, taking into account its symbolic and ideological devices, and the process of organization and mobilization of the aforementioned social class.
