| Abstract: | This dissertation aims to reflect on how Semiotics can be considered as a tool for interpreting and understanding Architecture, in order to analyze the relationship between the human being and the built space. Thus, it is based on the principle that Architecture, as a form of human expression, communicates meanings through its spatial, formal and functional elements, providing different experiences/atmospheres and distinct ways of inhabiting/ appropriating the same space. Therefore, this study is built from the analysis of the Apple Piazza Liberty building in Milan, by Norman Foster, seeking to identify the elements that contribute to the construction of its identity and meaning, with the city of Milan, promoting the creation of spatial narratives that intersect with the concepts and notions of Semiotics, highlighting the relationship between form, function and context. |
| Description: | A presente dissertação visa refletir sobre como a Semiótica pode ser considerada como uma ferramenta de interpretação e compreensão da Arquitetura, de forma a analisar a relação entre o ser humano e o espaço construído. Deste modo, parte-se do princípio que a Arquitetura, como forma de expressão humana, comunica significados através dos seus elementos espaciais, formais e funcionais, proporcionando diferentes experiências/ atmosferas e formas de habitar/apropriar distintas num mesmo espaço. Assim, este estudo constrói-se a partir da análise do edifício Apple Piazza Liberty em Milão, de Norman Foster, procurando identificar os elementos que contribuem para a construção da sua identidade e significado, com a cidade de Milão, promovendo a criação de narrativas espaciais que se cruzam com os conceitos e noções da Semiótica, destacando-se a relação entre forma, função e contexto. |
